Universal Technical Institute, Desert Fleet-Serv Partner to Provide Technical Training

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., May 19, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Universal Technical Institute, Inc. (UTI), the leading provider of post-secondary education for students seeking careers as professional automotive, diesel, collision repair, motorcycle and marine technicians, and Desert Fleet-Serv, a Phoenix-based company specializing in providing mobile fleet maintenance services, have announced a partnership to provide technical training for Desert Fleet-Serv technicians.

"Desert Fleet-Serv has employees that are constantly on the move handling mobile fleet maintenance, and it is difficult to pull technicians away from their accounts for long periods of time for training," said Greg Dickson, vice president of customer solutions and advanced training at UTI. "In working together on an employee skills assessment, we have been able to customize a program that is specific to the needs of each Desert Fleet-Serv team member making the most efficient use of their time."

The training program is targeted toward specific areas of concentration and consists of 50 percent lecture and 50 percent shop work. Emphasis will be placed on the efficiency of Desert Fleet Serv's existing work force and preparing their technicians for new business opportunities.

"UTI is the industry's choice for training, and when we discovered the opportunity to work with them, we couldn't pass it up," said Tom Cooper, Desert Fleet-Serv CEO. "We pride ourselves on customer responsiveness, and this training will keep our technicians up to date with current technology and provide our clients with even more service and repair options."

Each training session is six days in length and it is conducted at the Desert Fleet-Serv facility in Phoenix. Instructors from UTI's customer solutions group will facilitate the training.
