MOORESVILLE, N.C. (July 18, 2023) – NASCAR Technical Institute (NASCAR Tech) has been recognized as a “Favorite Place to Work” in Iredell County in the Mooresville Tribune’s and Statesville Record & Landmark’s 2023 “Best of Iredell” Awards. NASCAR Tech is a division of Universal Technical Institute, Inc. (NYSE: UTI), a leading workforce solutions provider of transportation, energy, and skilled trades education programs.

This is the second consecutive year that NASCAR Tech has been honored by these local newspapers. In 2022, the campus earned the “Best Place to Work” (over 50 employees) distinction. NASCAR Tech has also been previously recognized as a “School of Excellence” by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC), UTI’s accrediting body.

"We are humbled to receive this recognition – it is a testament to the dedication of our staff that we are being honored once again,” said Robert Kessler, campus president at NASCAR Technical Institute. "UTI’s mission is to serve students, partners, and communities by providing quality education and training for in-demand careers. Our continued recognition speaks to the fact that we’re also serving our community by providing them with a workplace and culture they appreciate."

The Mooresville Tribune and Statesville Record & Landmark organize the “Best of Iredell” Awards annually. The top candidates in each award category are chosen through nomination; then, community members are encouraged to vote for their favorites. The newspaper announced the category winners in their “Best of Iredell” section on Sunday, May 28.

“Working in skilled-trades education is gratifying because you’re changing lives by helping to prepare students for lifelong careers,” said UTI Division President Tracy Lorenz. “As UTI grows and diversifies, we are focused on providing our employees with a positive work environment and great benefits, and that’s helping us attract top talent.”

The Mooresville campus has approximately 75 employees. Since its opening in 2002, NASCAR Tech has expanded its program offerings from automotive and motorsports technician training to CNC (Computer Numerical Control) Machining and Welding Technology. The campus will launch the Robotics and Automation and Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVACR) technician training programs this fall.
