Universal Technical Institute-Lisle Celebrates “Instructor of the Year” for Teacher Appreciation Month
Dan Fletter recognized for student success rates, campus contributions

LISLE, Ill. (May 26, 2023) – Universal Technical Institute-Lisle, a leading workforce solutions provider of transportation and skilled trades education programs, is celebrating Teacher Appreciation Month by giving Dan Fletter the honor of being named “Instructor of the Year” for 2023. Fletter has taught FORD Fact and general automotive courses at UTI-Exton for the past 3 years, and said he is proud to be recognized by his colleagues, all of whom bring decades of industry experience and expertise to their classrooms.

Consideration for “Instructor of the Year” includes results of the Education Satisfaction Index and Course Completion Rates. The instructor’s overall contribution to the campus, through peer mentoring and departmental support, is also considered in the selection process.

“Dan was selected by his peers for his award,” said Roger Gomez, Campus President at UTI-Exton. “His passion for teaching and helping students succeed is what makes him our Instructor of the Year. He is known throughout the campus as a humble hero who will work hard to give the students the best possible experience. He is a technical Team leader for our Power and Performance courses, and Dan will spend countless hours to make sure that every vehicle and engine is prepared for the next class. His patience, care, coaching instincts and infectious laugh are some of the many attributes that he possess to receive countless shout-outs from his graduates. His popularity was brought into light recently where during a casual dress day, students had the theme of super hero. Several students in his class wore shirts bearing Mr. Fletter’s face.”

Fletter joined UTI as an instructor in 2019, teaching automatic powertrains, fuel and ignition systems, as well as FORD Fact specialized courses.

“I’m honored to be named “Instructor of the Year,” but want to take this opportunity to recognize the hard work and dedication put in by all of my colleagues,” said Fletter. “The majority of us came to UTI after many years in the industry, with the goal of passing our knowledge and expertise on to our students. We work to educate, motivate and inspire them everyday in order to set them up for a rewarding, lifelong career when they graduate.”

The “Instructor of the Year” winner at all 16 UTI and MIAT campuses nationwide was announced at their respective campus on May 5. UTI industry partner Snap-On is also helping to recognize them by sponsoring a feature wall at each campus that includes a photo of the “Instructor of the Year.”
