“Jeff has done a great job of inspiring students to do more and meet their full potential,” said Tim Dauber, Campus President at UTI-Orlando. “Jeff consistently meets his students, at the entrance of his class daily, to not only greet them but to review their individual progress. This quick touch base is focused on assignments needed to meet their course objectives and satisfactory progress. In many cases, this conversation is solely centered on a re-enforcement of the student’s positive attitude and strong work ethic.”
Herman joined UTI in 2020, teaching automotive and diesel engine courses.
“I’m honored to be named “Instructor of the Year,” but want to take this opportunity to recognize the hard work and dedication put in by all of my colleagues,” said Herman. “The majority of us came to UTI after many years in the industry, with the goal of passing our knowledge and expertise on to our students. We work to educate, motivate and inspire them everyday in order to set them up for a rewarding, lifelong career when they graduate.”
As a Motorcycle Mechanics Institute instructor, Wynn was selected by his peers based on the way he interacts with his students, making learning fun and adjusting his teaching technique to the needs of the class as a whole and the individual.
“William excels at introducing real-world examples into the lab assignments,” said Dauber. “William’s completion rate, in this past year, is 98%. This completion rate does not come without hard work, dedication, understanding and a passion for what you do. In addition, William has high standards for his students centered on personal presentation and time and attendance.”
Minnich, who teaches specifically in the Marine Mechanics Institute, has been instructing at the Orlando campus since 2022.
“In Troy’s short tenure, he has made an immediate impact on both his peers and his students,” said Dauber. “Troy was nominated by his peers for this award. This nomination was the result of his passion and drive, for student success. He has an immense level of respect for the marine profession and an equivalent level of regard for his role as an instructor. These characteristics are the basis for his quick rise to the top when it comes to student satisfaction and course performance metrics. He is leading the way for the Marine team.”
The “Instructor of the Year” winner at all 16 UTI and MIAT campuses nationwide was announced at their respective campus on May 5. UTI industry partner Snap-On is also helping to recognize them by sponsoring a feature wall at each campus that includes a photo of the “Instructor of the Year.”
