Universal Technical Institute-Houston Named 2022-2023 Military Friendly® School
"Veterans represent a disciplined, hard-working and motivated group of students who enrich the learning environment of our schools," said Darrin Brust, UTI-Houston campus president. "It is an honor for the UTI-Houston campus to receive this designation. We are dedicated to providing quality training for veterans to prepare them for near-term jobs and long-term careers within the industries that we serve,” commented Darrin Brust, UTI-Houston president.

HOUSTON, Texas (Feb. 22, 2023) – Universal Technical Institute-Houston has been named a Military Friendly® School for the 2022-2023 academic year. Military Friendly® is an organization that is committed to creating better outcomes for veterans by providing positive reinforcement for American organizations that invest in programs that improve the lives of veterans.

Universal Technical Institute and other organizations earning the Military Friendly® School designation were evaluated using both public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey. More than 1,800 schools participated in the 2022-2023 survey with 665 earning special awards for going above the standard.

Located at 721 Lockhaven Drive in Houston, the UTI Houston campus has been preparing students for the automotive, diesel, collision repair, and welding industries for over 38 years. The UTI-Houston campus encompasses more than 170,000 square feet of training space and includes 45 state-of-the-industry labs. Core programs include automotive, diesel, and welding technology, as well as Ford, Cummins, and BMW Manufacturer-Specific Advanced Training program.

Military veterans can attend UTI at little or no cost to them by accessing Post 911 GI benefits. UTI offers a Salute to Service Grant, which provides military veterans a 10 percent tuition reduction. [1] UTI also offers military-only campus orientations, which provides veterans one-on-one assistance with an admissions representative to help navigate the complexities of their military benefits.

Methodology, criteria, and weightings were determined by Viqtory with input from the Military Friendly® Advisory Council of independent leaders in the higher education and military recruitment community. Final ratings were determined by combining the institution’s survey scores with the assessment of the institution’s ability to meet thresholds for Student Retention, Graduation, Job Placement, Loan Repayment, Persistence (Degree Advancement or Transfer), and Loan Default rates for all students and, specifically, for student veterans.
