Universal Technical Institute-Sacramento Is Home to New, Expanded Ford EV Training Program for Auto Technicians
Campus is now offering an updated Ford FACT program to help meet the growing demand for technicians trained to work on Ford’s electric and hybrid vehicles
What we need are trained technicians who can navigate core fundamentals and show a willingness to stay current with new technologies coming from manufacturers,” said DC Sarra, Parts and Service Manager at Downtown Ford in Sacramento. “The students coming out of Universal Technical Institute receive that hands-on training and the Sacramento campus has done a great job of staying updated with its overall EV and hybrid strategy—giving students access to new technology that makes them ready to achieve Ford’s certification pathways.

SACRAMENTO (Sept. 9, 2022) – New training program updates taught today at the Universal Technical Institute (UTI) campus in Sacramento will prepare future technicians to work on electric and digitally connected Ford vehicles. The Ford Accelerated Credential Training (FACT) program, one of several manufacturer-specific advanced training (MSAT) programs offered across UTI’s campuses, helps students become a Certified Specialist able to work on Ford’s newest vehicles.

“Industry demand is rapidly growing for students who want to learn and aspire to become specialized technicians on all vehicles, including the zero-emission electric models growing in popularity each year,” said Tess Dubois-Carey, Campus President of UTI Sacramento. “Our California leaders at the state capitol have made it clear that clean car investments and advances are happening first here in California, and we’re proud to partner with Ford in advancing the Ford FACT program to meet the demand for technicians driven by this major technological change.”

The new course is a continued step in UTI's overall EV strategy, which includes enhancing its core curriculum, offering new EV certifications in certain MSAT programs, and developing new training models and partnership opportunities to expand UTI's overall EV ecosystem of learning.

“What we need are trained technicians who can navigate core fundamentals and show a willingness to stay current with new technologies coming from manufacturers,” said DC Sarra, Parts and Service Manager at Downtown Ford in Sacramento. “The students coming out of Universal Technical Institute receive that hands-on training and the Sacramento campus has done a great job of staying updated with its overall EV and hybrid strategy—giving students access to new technology that makes them ready to achieve Ford’s certification pathways.”

The 15-week advanced training program in Ford FACT opens registration multiple times each calendar year. The program prepares students on Ford's technology, computer diagnostics, electrical, gasoline and diesel technologies as well. Certain Sacramento students take Ford FACT after they successfully complete UTI's core automotive or auto/diesel programs.
