July 31, 2014 - UTI Rancho Cucamonga Veterans Graduate In Time for Fourth of July

While the nation was celebrating our independence this past Fourth of July, Universal Technical Institute (UTI) in Rancho Cucamonga celebrated the graduation of many students, including 11 veterans on July 3. For one veteran in particular, the graduation ceremony signified a continuation of past successes.

Preston Clark has lived a full life. At 51 years old he retired from a 25-year career in the Army as a Motor Sergeant in April 2013 with tours of duty completed in Iraq, Desert Storm, Desert Shield, Japan and more. While some may have opted for a quiet retirement after all those active years, and deservedly so, he chose a different route.

Clark, who was based in Irvine and lives in Anaheim, is committed to lifelong learning and has an equal passion for the automotive and diesel industry. Clark says he chose to continue his education at UTI because he knew it would be a springboard for a second career.

“The education I have received at UTI has definitely made me a better technician,” he said.

While transitioning from the military to the classroom was an adjustment, the move was made easier with the help of the other veterans in his classes and campus leadership. In fact, he and his fellow military heroes shared stories and experiences and supported each other throughout their time at UTI.

Clark graduated from the Automotive/Diesel & Industrial Technology and Smog programs at UTI – Rancho Cucamonga.
