July 24, 2014 - Universal Technical Institute Campus Relocation to Lisle Named One of Top Economic Development Projects in State of Illinois

The Illinois Chamber of Commerce and Illinois Development Council have named the relocation of Universal Technical Institute (UTI) to the Village of Lisle as a recipient of the 2014 Economic Development in Illinois (Edie) Awards. Six projects from across the state were selected by the Chamber to recognize companies that are investing in Illinois, providing jobs, and bringing economic opportunity to communities. 

“Winning this award from the Illinois Chamber means a great deal to all of us, and we share this honor with all of the community leaders who stepped up to champion our move to Lisle,” said Julie Mueller, campus president of UTI-Lisle. “Our Midwest flagship career training center in Lisle will help us meet the significant industry demand for professional, entry-level technicians.”

Campus President Julie Mueller and Director of Employment Services Ian Hardie were presented the award at the Illinois Chamber’s Annual Meeting in June. Several elected officials who played a key role in the campus’ relocation joined them including Lisle Mayor Joe Broda, President and CEO of the Lisle Area Chamber of Commerce Tom Althoff and Illinois General Assembly members Sen. Mike Connelly, Rep. Darlene Senger and Rep. Jeanne Ives.

“UTI’s investment in Lisle has brought substantial economic benefits to our community and region,” said Mayor Broda. “Having our Village home to one of the top Midwest career-training centers is helping secure our economic future and bringing new opportunity for area businesses.”
