July 22, 2014 - Summer Block Party Kicks Off Summer at UTI-Dallas
More than 1000 people and over 600 modified cars attended the Summer Block Party hosted by Ricekiller.com at the UTI-Dallas campus. |
For the third consecutive year, more than 1000 car enthusiasts descended upon the Dallas/Fort Worth Universal Technical Institute campus in Irving for the Summer Block Party car meet on June 14. Hosted by Ricekiller.com, this free event showcased more than 600 modified vehicles.
“The Summer Block Party was a great way for area car enthusiasts to kick off summer, and get up close and personal with some of the hottest cars out there,” said Jesus Miranda, campus president of UTI-Dallas. “We’re proud to have hosted such an exciting event.”
Ricekiller.com presented awards in various categories. Winners included:
Best Import – Robert Del Angel –Toyota Supra 1997
Best Exotic – Devon Chang – 2008 Porsche GT3
Best Domestic – Mike Dusold – 1969 Chevy Camaro
Best Bike – Thomas McCullough – 2006 Kawasaki GSXR
“Partnering with UTI always makes a successful event,” said Jared Guyne, event coordinator at Ricekiller.com. “They have an expansive facility that allows a large number of cars to be showcased, as well as space for all the other fun activities that go along with a Summer Block Party.”
In addition to seeing cars on display, current and past UTI students were able participate in Dyno Days to determine which car could generate the highest horsepower hooked to a dynamometer. This was the first time that Dyno Days at UTI had been combined with such a high profile event.
