Universal Technical Institute (www.uti.edu), the leading provider of post-secondary education for students seeking careers as professional automotive, diesel, collision repair, motorcycle and marine technicians, hosted the second annual Boston Strong Car Meet organized by Import Evolution (www.import-evolution.com) on May 31, 2014 at the Norwood campus. All proceeds, totaling nearly $6,500 with $450 donated by UTI, will be donated to The One Fund Boston to support the ongoing needs of those most affected by the Boston Marathon Bombings in April 2013.
More than 1,000 cars and motorcycles participated in the Boston Strong Car Meet, which was open to all car owners and enthusiasts as an opportunity to trade stories, knowledge and admiration for vehicles and owners alike, while bringing them together to contribute to The One Fund Boston (www.onefundboston.org) to help Boston Marathon bombing victims.
“The Boston Strong Car Meet is about giving young people with a love of customized vehicles a chance to come together, show their support for each other and the larger Boston community, and give back in a very tangible way,” says Javier Negron, Founder of Import Evolution. “The event costs are covered by our sponsors, so we will be able to donate 100 percent of our proceeds directly to The One Fund Boston.”
In addition to UTI, the 2014 Boston Strong Car Meet sponsors include: Yuppie Racing of Massachusetts; Sansossio Auto Body in Natick; Pro-SPEC Autosport in Quincy; Hi-Tech Auto Body in West Warwick, RI; BeastCoast of New England; KD Designs of Rhode Island; 802 Performance in Vergennes, VT; Eastside Motoring in Waltham; 360 Motorsports in Salem; Cutting Edge Graphics; and HI END Customs in Malden.
“Javier Negron’s passion for the car enthusiast community and commitment to giving back is impressive,” says Joshua Benoit, Local Marketing Manager - Northeast for UTI. “UTI-Norwood is excited to have been able to host the Boston Strong Car Meet for the second year in a row and to contribute to Import Evolution’s efforts to support the community. We’re already looking forward to next year.”
