December 11, 2013 - Universal Technical Institute is Proud to Work with SkillsUSA to Support Technical Education for Maine Students

December 2013 – Universal Technical Institute (NYSE:UTI), the leading provider of post-secondary education for students seeking careers as professional automotive, diesel, collision repair, motorcycle and marine technicians, is proud to work with SkillsUSA Maine (http://www.skillsusamaine.org/) and support its efforts to provide quality educational experiences for students across Maine through the election of John Lewis, UTI Admissions Representative, to serve on the Board of the executive committee.

As executive committee Board member of SkillsUSA Maine, Lewis will work closely with the organization’s directors and officers to plan and coordinate competitions, conferences and other activities.  A long-time volunteer for SkillsUSA Maine, Lewis will assume the head judge responsibility for the Diesel Equipment Technology Competition, where Maine’s top diesel technology students compete in hands-on work stations and take a written exam to test their knowledge and skills. As head judge, Lewis will organize the judges needed for the competition and collaborate with local diesel employers and industry partners.

“We rely on our business and industry partners to make this a quality, relevant event for students and we appreciate the efforts of volunteers like John Lewis and the commitment of educational institutions like UTI to provide educational experiences for students and to help train our future skilled workforce,” says Hal Casey, State Director for SkillsUSA Maine.
