December 9, 2013 - Jonathan Collins, Service Advisor at Prime Mercedes-Benz of Hyannis, Speaks at UTI-Norwood Graduation

Universal Technical Institute (NYSE:UTI), the leading provider of post-secondary education for students seeking careers as professional automotive, diesel, collision repair, motorcycle and marine technicians, recently hosted Jonathan Collins, Service Advisor at Prime Mercedes-Benz Service Center of Hyannis and graduate of UTI-Norwood’s Automotive Technology program, as part of the school’s “Graduation Speaker Series.”

The Graduation Speaker Series is the latest initiative by UTI to work closely with local employers and industry partners to ensure that students are getting the knowledge, skills, and hands-on training needed to prepare them to meet the requirements of the changing job market.

Collins graduated from the Automotive Technology program at UTI-Norwood in June 2012. While enrolled at UTI he worked part-time at Prime Mercedes-Benz of Westwood, and upon graduation was offered a position in their Business Development Center. This past June, Collins was promoted to Service Advisor at Prime Mercedes-Benz Service Center of Hyannis.

By bringing UTI graduates like Collins to the Norwood campus, the Graduation Speaker Series highlights job opportunities and career paths available to new graduates and the needs of local employers.

“Before attending UTI I worked as a landscaper and commercial plumber, and was tired of getting laid-off between jobs. I needed recession-proof work and had always liked working with cars, so decided to enroll at UTI,” said Collins, a resident of Abington, Mass. “UTI has helped me achieve success in a new career, and I’m honored to be invited to speak at a graduation and share my experiences.

"In addition to its standard curriculum, UTI-Norwood offers Manufacturer-Specific Advanced Training (MSAT) with Ford Motor Co., Nissan North America, Inc., and Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC to provide students with additional education in the latest automotive technologies.
