December 4, 2013 - Universal Technical Institute Graduate Kevin Gedenberg Finds Success With Prestigious Porsche Dealership in Connecticut

After Kevin Gedenberg, a highly successful recent graduate of Universal Technical Institute (NYSE:UTI), the leading provider of post-secondary education for students seeking careers as professional automotive, diesel, collision repair, motorcycle and marine technicians, graduated from the Porsche Technology Apprenticeship Program (PTAP) in July 2013, he was immediately hired to a coveted position as a service technician with Porsche of Wallingford in Connecticut.

“Our dealership has the most highly trained service technicians in the industry and an ongoing commitment to customer care, and Kevin’s skills and professionalism exemplify these high standards. He is a pleasure to work with,” says Reinert Angle, Service Director of Porsche of Wallingford.

UTI worked with Porsche Cars North America to develop PTAP, an invitation-only 21-week graduate training program structured around Porsche's mechanical and electrical systems that provides Porsche dealerships with entry-level technicians with consistent high level skills. Each student's training tuition is paid by Porsche Cars North America and the hiring authorized Porsche dealer. The program accepts just 24 students yearly and recruits exclusively from UTI.

Gedenberg is a native of Greenville, NH. He attended Mascenic Regional High School, where he took classes in Automotive Technology. As a high school senior, he won first place statewide in both the Ford AAA and National Automotive Dealers Association student competitions. UTI awarded him $21,250 in scholarships through those competitions. Gedenberg graduated from the Automotive Technology program at UTI-Norwood with an exemplary academic record, where he completed Manufacturer-Specific Advanced Training (MSAT) with Ford Motor Company and Mercedes-Benz USA. While at UTI-Norwood, Gedenberg earned a 4.0 GPA, all 8 ASE certifications, 18 Student of the Course Awards, Director’s Honor List Awards for every eligible course, acceptance into the Alpha Beta Kappa National Honor Society and the Perfect Attendance Award.

UTI’s partnership with Porsche Cars North America personifies the flourishing collaborations between UTI and the leading automotive brands. UTI works directly with business and industry leaders to collaborate on what students learn and how students are trained so that those students are ready for immediate employment. In addition to its standard curriculum, UTI-Norwood offers MSAT programs with Ford Motor Co., Nissan North America, Inc., and Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC to provide students with additional education in the latest automotive technologies.
