October 21, 2013 - UTI-Houston Career Fair A Success for Both Student and Company

Houston (Oct. 21, 2013) – Universal Technical Institute in Houston welcomed 35 companies in search of UTI students and recent graduates at its September career fair. UTI career fairs are designed to present companies with a selection of highly trained technicians ready for entry-level positions, as well as, assist students in networking and securing job opportunities. Many companies in attendance mentioned the professionalism that UTI instills in its students is a key to their success at these events.

“We return to UTI career fairs time and time again because it is a one-stop-shop for great employee prospects that possess professionalism and entry level skills,” Chad Medford, truck service staffing coordinator, TravelCenters of America said. Medford hires anywhere from four to 10 UTI students after each job fair.

Michael Del Greco of Sewel is a UTI graduate who leads by example at career fairs, “I enjoy speaking with UTI prospects and showing them there is no glass ceiling in this business and that they just need to be passionate about their profession and the industry.”

Over a hundred UTI students attended this quarter’s career fair to meet and set up interviews with employers. Many students attended with questions of their own for the employers, verifying location options and qualification criteria for each company.

“This is decision-making time for me right now,” Auto student Luis Castaneda said. “Career fairs are a great place for me to discover opportunities and where I want to go in the future.”

Students were not the only ones selling their skills at the career fair, companies were touting their employment benefits as well. Many companies offer perks such as tuition reimbursement, relocation assistance, growth opportunities and even tools to qualified candidates.
