October 4, 2013 - City of Rancho Cucamonga Elected Official Encourages Graduates to Embrace the Future

On Friday, September 27, 2013, the City of Rancho Cucamonga Mayor Pro Tem Sam Spagnolo addressed graduates at Universal Technical Institute – Rancho Cucamonga, encouraging them to embrace the bright future ahead.

Spagnolo served as an honorary guest speaker at the ceremony commemorating UTI students graduating from the Rancho Cucamonga campus’ rigorous Automotive Technology and Diesel and Industrial Technology training programs.

Spagnolo shared with the graduates, family members and UTI staff his common passion for the automotive industry. Growing up in Detroit, he developed what would become a lifelong love for cars. From Detroit, Spagnolo moved to Rancho Cucamonga where he attended Chaffey College and embarked on a career in the fire service.

Today, Spagnolo is a 33-year resident of Rancho Cucamonga and a former Fire Captain who retired from the Rancho Cucamonga Firefighters Association in 2003. Spagnolo shared his life and career experiences with the audience, stressing the importance of maintaining a positive outlook on life.

“Through life’s failures and successes, it’s important to move forward and keep the faith,” he said. “Today we celebrate and congratulate you on your successes.”

UTI-Rancho Cucamonga Campus President Sean Carlson expressed his appreciation for Spagnolo taking time out of his busy schedule to recognize the graduates.

“It is wonderful that one of our city’s leaders could join us today in recognizing the hard work and great accomplishments of our students,” Carlson said. “We truly value our partnership with the City of Rancho Cucamonga to better our community and our workforce.”
