August 16, 2013 - UTI-Houston Instructor Makes History

Recently, Universal Technical Institute  Houston instructor, Randy McGinty reached a significant achievement is his life after receiving the maximum level of training possible from Chief University, the technical training arm of Chief Automotive Technologies.

Out of the 30,000 collision repair technicians and 20,000 estimators and appraisers who have participated, McGinty is the only person in the United States that has attended and passed every training class offered by Chief, awarding him a Dual Advanced Master Certification.

McGinty started Chief structural classes in 2003, and hit this impressive milestone when he completed his last course - Design Based Repair – on April 19, 2013. McGinty took the eight Chief University classes at UTI’s Houston campus, with his total Chief training exceeding 120 hours.

“The Chief University courses have allowed me to take additional information into the classroom,” said McGinty. “I learned new ways to think about, analyze and repair structurally damaged vehicles and have taken everything I learned back to my students so they have useful, real-world knowledge. I know these classes have made me a more effective instructor.”

McGinty teaches both structural and non-structural repair classes at UTI -Houston. With over 25 years in the business, he has performed nearly every job in the collision repair industry. McGinty is ASE certified in structural analysis and damage repair, non-structural analysis and damage repair, damage analysis and estimating, and painting and refinishing.

McGinty’s first class at Chief was Computerized Measuring Training. During the past ten years, he has also completed Full Frame Analysis & Repair Planning, Unitized Body Analysis & Repair Planning, Advanced Frame Analysis, Advanced Steering & Suspension Analysis, Advanced Frame Repair, and Structural Damage Analysis.

“I’m proud to have reached this level of education,” said McGinty.  “I’m honored that I can pass on this knowledge to our students and see them put these skills to use in the classroom and beyond.”
