Universal Technical Institute in Exton hosted the third stop of the Torque Meet Tour, a five-city automotive event series held exclusively at UTI campuses across the county. Open to the public at no charge, the event – held Saturday, June 22nd from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. – welcomed hundreds of attendees to UTI’s Exton campus.
From classics to exotics to customized cars and trucks, the Torque Meet Tour showcased a variety of automotive vehicles. Auto enthusiasts displayed their vehicles and entered to win raffle prizes, such as diecast models and auto-related apparel. All vehicles on display were also eligible to win awards for “best overall build” and “hottest supercharged setup.” In addition to showcasing the public’s automobiles, the Torque Meet Tour provided attendees an opportunity to interact with fellow auto enthusiasts and shop at local vendor tables. Attendees also experienced the thrill of radio-controlled (RC) drifting on a track sponsored by Driftsylvania and entered to win a custom 2013 Toyota Tacoma.
“UTI’s Exton campus is the ideal setting for the Torque Meet Tour, a one-of-a-kind event that not only excites our students, but also demonstrates a potential career in the automotive field,” said Steve McElfresh, Interim Campus President at UTI-Exton. “At UTI, we’re committed to equipping our students with the knowledge and skills needed to become quality entry-level technicians. Combining these skills with creativity and passion can lead our graduates to building and repairing vehicles such as those featured at this event.”
To bring the Torque Meet Tour to the public, UTI teamed up with Neil Tjin, one of the top up-and-coming automotive designers. With over 15 years of experience in the automotive aftermarket, Tjin has designed and built more than 60 high-profile vehicles and worked with numerous manufacturers, including the Ford Motor Company and Honda North America, among others.
Earlier this year, the Torque Meet Tour stopped at UTI’s campuses in Orlando, FL and Glendale Heights, IL. After UTI-Exton’s event, it will head to Norwood, MA before rounding out the national tour in Avondale, AZ.
