June 28, 2013 - Universal Technical Institute Graduate Helps Open Auto Repair Shop Servicing Luxury Vehicles in North Texas

North Texas native Kevin Cundiff’s lifelong dream has always been to work on high-end cars. He just didn’t know that his dream would come to fruition so early in his career.

A graduate of the Universal Technical Institute (UTI) Houston campus in 2010, Kevin spent his last year in school making the 10-hour roundtrip drive from campus in Houston, home to Dallas, to spend weekends with his wife, who at the time, was pregnant with their first child. After graduating from the automotive program, he returned home to North Texas and worked as an automotive technician for Sewell Cadillac and Park Place Porsche.

In early 2013, his former boss at Park Place asked Cundiff to serve as shop foreman at his new auto repair shop in Plano, Fix N Go. The shop specializes in servicing Porsche’s and other luxury vehicles and since opening only a few weeks ago, business is going well.

“I never expected that I would have my dream job so early in my career,” said Cundiff. “I always knew that I wanted to work on Porsche’s and other luxury cars. Universal Technical Institute taught me the skills I needed to get where I am. I’m so happy there is a local campus in North Texas so others in the area can stay closer to home and still get the training they need.”

Cundiff is committed to helping others achieve their dreams. He is a frequent speaker at UTI Dallas/Ft. Worth Open Houses where he shares his story with students to motivate them to study and train hard so they too can land their dream jobs.

“Kevin is a great role model for the students at our campus,” said Jesus Miranda, campus president of the UTI Dallas/Ft. Worth campus. “He shows current students how hard work can pay off and how it is possible to achieve their dreams if they have the passion and dedication.”

When he’s not working, Cundiff also likes to fish and spend time with his wife and 3-year old son. He and his wife are expecting their second child in early May.
