May 2, 2013 - More than 800 Tour UTI, Learn About Automotive Careers At Open House

Undeterred by the rain and cold, more than 800 prospective students and their families came to an Open House at the Universal Technical Institute (UTI) campus in Glendale Heights, Ill., showing that interest in careers in the automotive industry remains high.  Event goers had the opportunity to tour the campus, visit the training labs and meet with UTI staff.

“We enjoy opening up our campus and demonstrating the value of a UTI technical education,” said Julie Mueller, campus president of UTI-Glendale Heights. “Prospective students and their families ask great questions and our open houses give them the opportunity to see the educational programs we offer.”

In addition to the tours, the open house offered individuals the opportunity to enroll and reserve their space in a training class and provided onsite scholarship testing for expected 2013 high school graduates. More than 200 eligible high school students tested their academic technical skills for a chance to earn up to $2,500 in UTI scholarships, including the American Dream Scholarship and the UTI Transportation and Motorsports Scholarship.

The American Dream Scholarship covers basic knowledge in math, English, history and geography, while the UTI Transportation and Motorsports Scholarship covers basic technical knowledge related to auto, diesel, NASCAR, collision repair, motorcycle and marine industries.

UTI offers unparalleled connections within industry, and its manufacturer-specific training provides students the ability to obtain highly desired certifications and experience. On the tour, guests were provided information about the manufacturer-specific programs offered at Glendale Heights:

  • Ford Motor Co. (Ford Accelerated Credential Training-FACT)
  • American Honda Motor Co. (Honda Professional Automotive Career Training-PACT)
  • Navistar International Corp. (International Technician Education Program-ITEP)
