In late February, staff from Universal Technical Institute (UTI) in Exton donated and delivered a clip car to the automotive program at Hunterdon County Polytech Career Academy in Flemington, NJ. Two of Polytech’s students, Joe Scibilia and Jacob Hoffman, won the clip car for their school after earning the best average for their school out of all the high schools that participated in UTI-Exton’s Top Tech Challenge a month earlier.
At the Top Tech Challenge, which took place on the UTI-Exton campus, students from 36 high schools competed for prizes for their schools, as well as financial scholarships to UTI. Students completed various automotive tasks, including a written test, automotive part and tool identifications, and an electrical workstation test. Scibilia’s and Hoffman’s combined scores earned the school first place and a donated clip car for its automotive program.
“Hunterdon County Polytech’s students exhibited great aptitude and skill at the Top Tech Challenge,” said Kevin Gero, Regional Admissions Director at UTI-Exton. “UTI is proud to donate a clip car to the school and aid in enhancing their automotive program with resources for hands-on training.”
Contestants of the Top Tech Challenge also received VIP access to the UTI-Exton’s facility and its expert instructors. Students toured the campus and its training labs, spoke with various program instructors and learned about financial aid, housing and employment services.
