April 17, 2013 - UTI-Exton Celebrates Ford Mustang Day

Students, instructors and staff at Universal Technical Institute in Exton (UTI) gathered together to celebrate Ford Mustang Day, held every year on April 17. Mustang enthusiasts congregated around the Mustang vehicles on campus to take some photos, discuss their favorite models and celebrate one of America’s most famous muscle cars.

This year’s commemorative day marks the 49th anniversary of Mustang’s public debut in 1964, when it was officially unveiled by Henry Ford II at the New York World’s Fair. On the same day, the brand-new car was also debuted in Ford showrooms across the United States, with almost 22,000 sold immediately. Ford exceeded sales expectations and sold more than 400,000 Mustangs within its first year of production.

Throughout its history, the vehicle – named for a World War II fighter plane – graced the covers of countless magazines, made appearances in hundreds of movies, and underwent numerous evolutions. The Mustang is still in production and to date, more than nine million units have been sold.

UTI students with an affinity for the Mustang have an opportunity to earn some of the necessary credentials to work on Mustang vehicles through the Ford Accelerated Credential Training (FACT) elective, available at eight UTI campuses. The 15-week program provides students with top-notch training on Ford vehicles, as well as the equipment and procedures that are used in Ford or Lincoln service departments around the nation.
