April 16, 2013 - Massiel Pena, Recent Graduate of UTI Norwood, Highlighted in Providence (RI) Journal Article

UTI-Norwood (www.uti.com) is proud of recent graduate Massiel Pena, who was featured in the February 16, 2013 edition of the Providence (RI) Journal. The article describes how enrolling at UTI Norwood was a “dream come true” for Pena and led directly to a rewarding position with Milton CAT (www.miltoncat.com) in Milford, MA.

After emigrating from the Dominican Republic with her family as a young child, Pena grew up in public housing in Providence. She always liked working on cars and knew early on that she wanted to pursue an education in automotive technology.

“Once I was enrolled at UTI-Norwood, I found my passion and enthusiasm,” says Pena. “It was the best decision I could have made. I was learning about what I love, and it’s because of UTI that I got connected to this fantastic job with great opportunities at Milton CAT.”

Pena enjoyed the extensive hands-on training at UTI that goes along with the classroom education. The focus on the automotive industry, emphasis on professionalism, support for students in all aspects of their lives, and the stellar reputation drew her in immediately. And she found that being a woman in a male-dominated industry was simply a non-issue. “I’ve found that if you have confidence in yourself and show the world that you respect yourself, everyone else will respect you, too,” says Pena.

Pena graduated from the 12 month Automotive Technology program at UTI-Norwood in September 2012. She has been working at Milton CAT since May 2012.
