April 8, 2013 - UTI-Norwood Donates Clip Car to Automotive Technology Program at North Shore Technical H.S. in Middleton, Mass.

The UTI-Norwood campus recently donated a clip car to North Shore Technical High School in Middleton, Mass. Brooks Clarke, an automotive technology instructor at North Shore Technical, won the clip car for his school in a drawing he participated in while attending a Career Technical Educators (CTE) summit at UTI-Norwood in October 2012.  UTI-Norwood, in conjunction with Snap-On Tools, sponsors CTE summits that provide 10 hours of technical training and education in automotive technology for vocational technical high school educators seeking to fulfill their State certification requirements.

“Hands-on learning is an important part of the student experience, and having this clip car in our shop will enhance our automotive technology program,” said Brooks Clarke, automotive technology instructor at North Shore Technical High School.

A Clip Car is the front-end of an actual car that has been cut in half to provide students with invaluable real-world experience as part of their technical education. UTI-Norwood’s donation of a Clip Car is an enormous value to local public technical high schools, many of who are struggling to maintain educational standards in a tough, budget-minded economy.

UTI marketing manager Dan Poor delivered the clip car, a Nissan Sentra, to Brooks and his students at North Shore Technical High School.

“This kind of hands-on experience is exactly what students need to attain deeper knowledge and learning of their technical skills,” says Poor. “UTI is proud to be able to bring training opportunities to high school students interested in working in this field.”
