March 29, 2013 - UTI-Exton Welcomes Pennsylvania State Representative to Its Campus

In mid-February, Pennsylvania State Representative Becky Corbin visited Universal Technical Institute (UTI) in Exton for a tour of the facility and meeting with campus leaders. Rep. Corbin, who serves Chester County’s 155th Legislative District, explored classrooms and labs, learned about UTI’s industry partnerships and gained firsthand insight into the campus’ automotive and diesel training programs.

During her campus visit, Rep. Corbin was accompanied by Interim Campus President, Steve McElfresh; Interim Education Director, Ted Groff; and Anthony Castrovillo, Financial Aid Director. They each provided a unique perspective on the campus, from the dynamics of the student body to the technical skills of faculty to the many services that UTI offers its students. In addition to visiting the Ford Accelerated Credential Training and Toyota Professional Automotive Technician labs, Rep. Corbin had the unique opportunity to explore the brand-new, state-of-the-industry Cummins Qualified Technician Program diesel lab. The program, which recently began on the Exton campus, demonstrated to the representative UTI’s commitment to instilling professionalism in its students and providing them with first-rate training for the industry.

“It was a pleasure to welcome Representative Corbin to the campus and give her a brief snapshot into our world,” said McElfresh. “Her chemistry background and interest in cars allowed us to dive further into our conversations and provide her with a deeper appreciation for the programs offered at UTI, and – more broadly – the automotive and diesel industries on a whole.”
