In anticipation of Universal Technical Institute’s move to its new state-of-the-industry campus in Lisle, Ill., in the fall of 2013, members of the board of directors of the Lisle Area Chamber of Commerce met with campus president Julie Mueller and toured the UTI-Glendale Heights campus.
“The Chamber’s board of directors was interested in learning more about Universal Technical Institute’s workforce training programs, and how its career training benefits industry in our area,” said Tom Althoff, president & CEO of the Lisle Chamber. “Further, we were all thoroughly impressed with UTI’s commitment to the local community.
During the visit, directors saw firsthand the school’s automotive and diesel labs, learned about the classroom experience and visited with campus directors.
“I had expectations of what the campus would be like, but they were blown away,” said Richard Brink, general manager of the Hilton Lisle/Naperville and a director of the Lisle Chamber. “Visiting the labs makes clear that students are exposed to focused, skilled, technical education and explains why UTI graduates have an excellent reputation.”
Over the course of the delegation’s tour, Chamber leaders committed to working with UTI to welcome them to the community, assist with employment opportunities for students and increase efforts to educate people about the career opportunities in the automotive and diesel industries.
The Glendale Heights campus offers students eight different program combinations, including four manufacturing-specific programs offered by Ford Motor Co. (Ford Accelerated Credential Training-FACT), American Honda Motor Co. (Honda Professional Automotive Career Training-PACT), Navistar International Corp. (International Technician Education Program) and Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. (Toyota Professional Automotive Training-TPAT).
