December 19, 2012 - Glick Nissan, an Award-Winning Automotive Dealer in Westborough Mass., Highly Endorses Graduates of UTI-Norwood’s Nissan Automotive Technician Training (NATT) Program

Glick Nissan of Westborough, Mass., winner of the prestigious Circle Award granted for excellence in customer satisfaction and sales performance as well as service and dealership operations, recently hired two graduates from the Nissan Automotive Technician Training (NATT) program at Universal Technical Institute (UTI) campus in Norwood. General Manager and Vice President of the Glick Nissan dealership Ted Budzyna and Service Manager Mary Ellen Parsons have been impressed by the new hires’ diagnostic and technical skills, enthusiasm, and professionalism.

Nellie Colon, who was hired in July 2012, walked into Glick Nissan after graduation from UTI-Norwood in June to apply for a position as an automotive technician. “UTI produces great service technicians, and I wanted to support a fellow female technician in an industry that is still dominated by men,” says Parsons. “And honestly, taking a chance on hiring Nellie was the best move we ever made. Everyone across the board is impressed with her technical skills, interpersonal skills, and enthusiasm for learning.” While hired only a few months ago, she has already been given additional specialized training and a pay raise, and is working with a mentor in the shop to refine and enhance her skills and knowledge.

Louis Pacheco, of Milbury, Mass., applied for a position with Glick Nissan on the same day he graduated from UTI-Norwood’s NATT program in September. After such a positive experience with Colon from the same program, Parsons and Budzyna quickly gave him the same opportunity. “He’s a great addition to our service team,” says Budzyna. “UTI does a fantastic job preparing its students to work professionally and skillfully in a wide variety of situations.”

“Automotive technology is a vibrant career path, and UTI-Norwood’s Automotive Technology program is a vital part of technical education in the region,” said Chuck Barresi, Campus President for UTI-Norwood. “We are thrilled to hear about our graduates’ success, especially with great dealerships like Glick Nissan.”

The NATT program is a 9-week elective program that can be added to the 51-week Automotive Technology core program at UTI and gives students the skills needed to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain chassis, climate, drive train, electrical, and engine systems for Nissan and Infiniti vehicles (https://www.uti.edu/programs/automotive-diesel-collision-repair/manufacturer-programs/nissan).
