December 10, 2012 - Village of Lisle Mayor Joe Broda and Village Manager Jerry Sprecher Visit UTI-Glendale Heights

In early December, top officials from the Village of Lisle were welcomed by campus president Julie Mueller to the UTI-Glendale Heights campus. Mayor Joe Broda and Village Manager Jerry Sprecher toured the automotive, diesel and elective labs.

“As a proud graduate of a technical school, I know firsthand the value of career training,” said Mayor Broda. “By touring the labs and seeing students at work, I have a better understanding of why UTI students are in demand. There is a reason 30 top brands have relationships with UTI, and I am proud that 25 years of momentum and success for UTI-Glendale Heights will be transferred to our community next year. Lisle is gaining a great community asset.”

Earlier this year, UTI announced that it would open and operate an up-to 187,000 square foot state-of-the-industry campus along Interstate 88 in Lisle. The new campus is targeted to open in the fourth quarter of 2013, and the construction project is forecasted to create up to 300 jobs in the construction and building trades.

“We’re always focused on our students' success and the new campus will continue to provide an exceptional educational environment,” said Mueller. “We’re excited about the Lisle campus and are working with business and civic leaders to ensure a seamless transition and enhance our school’s relationships within the employer community.”

During the zoning and approval process this past summer, the new campus received the support from numerous business leaders. Among them were the Lisle Area Chamber of Commerce and several of its members, as well as industry partner Volvo of Lisle, a long-time employer of UTI graduates. Further, an economic impact study commissioned for the zoning process concluded that campus operations sustains $50 million in economic benefit for the region and state.
