November 26, 2012 - UTI-Glendale Heights Instructor Educates Viewers on Shopping for a Used Car like an Automotive Technician

On Sunday, September 16, Universal Technical Institute-Glendale Heights instructor Dennis Denz appeared on the station’s morning newscast to provide viewers with some helpful insights as to what they should be looking for when purchasing a used car.

During the segment, Dennis outlined problems and red flags that novice car shoppers can identify when looking for their new ride. These tips included basics such as checking tire pressure and looking for rust, dents, and scratches on the body of the car. The UTI instructor also explained how to check for warning signs of wear and tear, such as checking the firmness of hoses and belts under the hood and inspecting them for cracks as well as what to look for when opening the oil cap.

“You don’t have to be an automotive technician to spot basic problems in used cars,” said Denz. “With just a little know-how, I hope to arm shoppers with enough expertise to help save them from driving off the lot with a lemon."
