October 30, 2012 - UTI-Exton Receives Recognition from the American Red Cross
At the American Red Cross’ Annual Sickle Cell Recognition Event, held in late September, Universal Technical Institute’s Exton campus received the 2012 Committed Partnership Award in the Large Group Category. The award is granted to groups that have elevated their level of commitment to the Sickle Cell Donor Program by either sponsoring additional drives during the year, or increasing collections by 20 percent or more.
The Exton campus averages more than 150 pints at each quarterly blood drive, with 185 pints collected at its most recent blood drive in September. In the past year, students and faculty collectively donated more than 900 units for the American Red Cross, particularly at critical times such as the holiday season or during severe weather.
“Universal Technical Institute has unparalleled faculty, employee and student support,” said Anthony Tornetta, regional communications manager for the American Red Cross. “Faculty members openly welcome and help Red Cross Representatives engage students to donate blood and diversify the blood supply.”
