September 5,2012 - Congressman Jim Gerlach Visits Universal Technical Institute in Exton

On Thursday, August 23rd, Universal Technical Institute in Exton welcomed Congressman Jim Gerlach to its campus for a tour of the facility and a meet-and-greet with students. The Congressman, who serves Pennsylvania’s Sixth Congressional District, spent a few hours getting to know the campus, the faculty and students, and the various programs offered at UTI.

Along with Regional Vice President of Operations Bob Kessler, a few Veteran students provided the Congressman with a hands-on learning experience throughout the tour, teaching him how to operate some of the school’s training aids and equipment.

In the Power & Performance Lab, Congressman Gerlach had the opportunity to test-drive the campus’ Breast Cancer T-Bucket on the Chassis Dyno. He also visited each department and learned how UTI is there for students every step of the way – from helping students to find employment, both locally and upon graduation, to supporting them in their academic and personal lives.

“It was a pleasure having Congressman Gerlach visit our campus,” said Hector Guzmán, Tour Coordinator at the Exton campus. “He understands the importance of our industry and was impressed with all of the great things we do here at UTI. He was blown away not only by the professionalism of our facility, but our students as well. Most importantly, he walked away with a greater appreciation of our school.”
