July 23, 2012 - UTI Students Take Break To Give Back

Last month, students, instructors, and staff at UTI-Glendale Heights rolled up their sleeves to participate in the campus’ annual Blood Drive. Sponsored by Heartland Blood Centers, students and faculty donated blood between classes and on their lunch break.

“This event is always a great chance for us to come together for a good cause,” said UTI Glendale Heights’ Student Affairs Advisor Jenni Holemeyer. “It was wonderful to see our student population and staff giving back to the community.”

More than 350 people turned out to the blood drive this year, with 326 pints of blood successfully donated. In the past three years, UTI’s annual Blood Drive has brought in a total of 1,111 pints of blood for the Heartland Blood Centers.

“This is one of our favorite events all year,” said Janet Maher, Communications Representative at Heartland Blood Centers. “We shut down our local office and bring everyone to UTI. They set the standard for giving. We are already looking forward to coming back next year.”
