June 1, 2012 - Bringing Meaning Back to Memorial Day

June 1, 2012 - While many north Texans spent their Memorial Day in the pool or at a backyard BBQ, a group of staff and instructors from the Universal Technical Institute-Dallas campus spent the day walking.

The team took part in the second annual Carry the Load, a 20-hour Memorial Day event recognizing and celebrating members of the military, law enforcement, firefighters and their families. Participants walk or run as long or as little as they can in the 20-hour period and are encouraged to raise money to support non-profits dedicated to supporting veterans and their families.

Along with several of their friends and family members, the team from Universal Technical Institute raised more than $1,300 and covered more than 30 miles. Team members included Adelma Bonilla, Adnis Almodovar, Bethany Cowin, Darren Cohen, Dave Grzesk, John French, Leah Miranda, Ruth Cayler, Tracey Robinson, and Yusileydis Grillo.

Way to go and thank you for supporting our vets! To learn more about UTI-Dalls visit uti.edu.
