April 19, 2012 - UTI-Glendale Heights Launches Honda PACT Program

Responding to the need from numerous local Honda and Acura dealers to bring skilled Honda-specific auto technicians to the Chicagoland area, Universal Technical Institute (UTI)’s Glendale Heights campus has rolled out its first Honda Professional Automotive Career Training (PACT) program.

The new PACT program helps Honda and Acura dealers employ skilled auto technicians in the Midwest. By 2018, a projected 1.3 million jobs in the collision, automotive, motorcycle, and marine industries will be created in the United States, with many jobs available in Chicago with Honda and Acura dealers.  There are more than 130 Honda and Acura dealers in the Midwest and 1,340 dealers nationwide, employing more than 12,500 technicians.

Currently, Honda PACT is exclusive to students with a GPA higher than 3.0. The program consists of 4 courses and each course is 3 weeks long, making the duration of the program 12 weeks total.  These courses allow students the opportunity to earn up to 11 valuable Honda Certifications through UTI, ranging from maintenance to electrical systems. UTI-Glendale Heights has PACT instructors who are certified through Honda to approve students’ skill modules.

For the new Honda program, UTI developed new classrooms for the laptop-based-learning component, along with a state of the industry hands-on environment to experience servicing Honda and Acura automobiles.  In addition to Honda PACT, the UTI-Glendale Heights campus offers advanced training programs for Ford, Toyota and International.
