Students and instructors line up at the MMI-Phoenix campus for the Toy Run |
Dec. 23, 2011 - Motorcycle Mechanics Institute (MMI) hosted its annual Motorcycle Toy Run to Phoenix Crisis Nursery on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011. This year marked the 21st anniversary of MMI participating in the fight against child abuse and neglect.
Following a breakfast hosted by MMI, more than 100 students and instructors lined up their motorcycles for the toy run. Chief Harley-Davidson instructor Jon Roppe led the run as “Road Captain,” ensuring a safe and controlled ride for everyone involved. A student, known around campus as “Griz,” even suited up as Santa and entertained the children waiting at Crisis Nursery.
In addition to the toys, students and staff presented Crisis Nursery with $660 that was raised at the MMI campus.
For more than 33 years, Crisis Nursery, Inc., the Valley’s longest-serving children’s shelter, has provided a safe haven for more than 17,000 children in greater Phoenix through child-centered and family-focused programs and services.
