June 15, 2011 - UTI-Norwood Continues to Aid Local High School Auto Shops through Clip Car Donations

June 15, 2011 -  Students from the Putnam Vocational Technical High School, in Springfield, Mass., are the latest recipients of a clip car donation, courtesy of the Universal Technical Institute (UTI) campus in Norwood, Mass. and Western Massachusetts Counselors Association (WMCA).

Gary Watson, a member of WMCA, won the clip car through a UTI sponsored raffle when he attended WMCA’s annual year-end meeting and in turn donated it to Putnam Vocational.

Clip cars are valuable training aids for auto shop students. Budget cuts in several states have reduced funds for purchasing these training aids, so UTI has stepped up to the plate to support these programs through donations.

"This is a wonderful tool that we're thrilled to be able to offer to our students," said Hilary Weisgerber, director of vocational technology programs at Putnam Vocational. "Receiving hands-on experience is an opportunity that every automotive technology student dreams of.”

Waiting to receive the donation was Gilbert Traverso, Putnam Vocational principal, Hillary Weisgerber, Putnam Vocational director of vocational technology programs, Arlene Tierney, WMCA president.
