June 14, 2011 - The 2011 MMI Sponsored AMA Monster Energy Supercross Season Comes to an Award-Winning Finish for MMI Internship Program

June 14, 2011 - Following the finals, Feld Motorsports posted the above phrase on the Las Vegas Marquee during the Awards Banquet as they shared record numbers regarding Stadium and Pit Party attendance, TV viewing audience, Web traffic and social media.

The increases were largely due to the incredible racing action that took place week in and week out. Just weeks before the finals, any one of the top five Supercross class riders were in the hunt for the championship. In the end, Ryan Villopoto claimed the Championship with Chad Reed 2nd, Ryan Dungey 3rd, James Stewart 4th and Trey Canard 5th respectfully.

This season has also had many highlights for MMI, including the following:

·         MMI partnered with Jeremy McGrath and American Honda Racing to provide this year’s Jeremy McGrath Honda CRF450R Replica Sweepstakes Race Bike. This bike was built at Honda Racing and tested by Jeremy at the Honda test track. There are only a few days left to enter the MMI/McGrath Sweepstakes at MMIgarage.com

·         This year’s MMI/Jeremy McGrath Scholarship winner was announced at the Finals. Scholarship contestants completed an application and sent in a two-minute video explaining why they should win the prestigious scholarship. Jeremy McGrath made the announcement on stage in front of a sold out Sam Boyd Stadium that Randy Cardwell from Connecticut was the $10,000 winner.

·         The team sponsored program with BTO-Butler Brothers Racing provided a platform for MMI to host the MMI Graduate Intern Program. Two graduates were selected for each of 16 races to work as a Supercross Technician for the weekend. They had the opportunity to live their dream job and see if they had what it took to one day become a fulltime race technician. This is the fifth year MMI has hosted an internship program of this magnitude. These internships are proving to help MMI graduates with jobs. In a survey taken this weekend at the finals, of 104 team technicians interviewed, 31 were MMI graduates…that’s one-third of all Supercross technicians!

·         MMI hosted several enrolled students as part of the VIP Enroll to Show program, providing enrolled students and their guests a behind-the -scenes look at careers in the motorsports industry.

·         This year’s $1000 MMI Top Tech Award went to Scotty Adkins after his rider Ryan Sipes won the East vs West Supercross lites Shootout.

·         MMI presented $2500 to the 2011 Champions Technician, Mike Williamson at the Awards Banquet.

Next season will see several new riders moving up from the Lites class to Supercross. More than likely, it will be another unbelievable race season with several riders battling for the championship.
