April 21, 2011 - UTI Diesel Days Celebrates Diesel Technology and Industrial Training Program

From ocean freight liners to the machinery that mines, plants and harvests our country’s raw materials, the world runs on diesel energy. In celebration of its Diesel Technology and Industrial Training program, UTI-LA, located in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., hosted more than 600 students, Rancho Cucamonga community members, and several dignitaries on Saturday, April 16, at Diesel Days.

As the campus sits in the center of a major shipping corridor, it is only fitting that UTI launched the diesel program at this location for the many students working toward careers in diesel technology. During the ribbon cutting ceremony and community event, attendees were able to tour the newly opened Diesel Lab and learn about careers in the diesel industry as well as all of UTI’s program offerings.

More than 50 pieces of diesel equipment were on hand to showcase the diversity of diesel technology. The free event also featured a car show, food vendors, games for the entire family, and a special appearance by the Los Angeles Laker Girls. Notable guests included Larry Broedow, representing Senator Bob Dutton (R-Rancho Cucamonga); Cameron Wessel, representing State Assembly Member Mike Morrell – 63rd Assembly District,; Debra Mustain, representing California School Superintendent Gary Thomas; Mayor Dennis Michael – City of Rancho Cucamonga, along with Council Member Diane Williams and Captain Joe Cusimano of the LA County Sherriff’s Department.

UTI’s Rancho Cucamonga campus offers core educational programs in automotive technology, as well as Diesel and Industrial technology programs.  Manufacturer-specific programs include the BMW Fast Track, Ford FACT, and Mercedes-Benz STARt
