SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., March 18, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- Universal Technical Institute (NYSE: UTI), the leading provider of transportation technician training, will move to online instruction next week and suspend all in person classes at its 13 campuses nationwide starting Thursday, March 19.
"The well-being of our campus communities is our top priority and we are taking this step to protect our students and staff and to help slow the spread of this virus, while also continuing to support our students with their education and career paths," said Jerome A. Grant, Chief Executive Officer.
While UTI has given all students the opportunity to pause their education without losing credits, tuition or their place in school, the majority have chosen to stay in school. Starting next week, UTI will offer its training online and students will be able to continue their education from home. UTI campuses will remain open, unless circumstances warrant otherwise, to provide student support services, including access to Wi-Fi, during these uncertain times.
UTI staff are continuing to enforce CDC protocols, including increased frequency of regularly scheduled cleanings, cleaning all high-touch surfaces multiple times per day, providing hand-sanitizing stations, promoting personal hygiene, and directing individuals who are sick to stay home and seek medical attention.
"COVID-19 is impacting the world in ways we haven't seen in recent memory," said Grant. "We continue to monitor the situation closely and to do all we can to protect the health and well-being of our students, employees and campus communities, while also continuing to support our students in training for good jobs and fulfilling careers."
