SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., July 16, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Eric Severson has joined Universal Technical Institute, Inc. (NYSE: UTI), as senior vice president, Admissions.
Severson will develop and lead strategies and initiatives to increase enrollment of qualified students. Sherrell Smith retains his responsibilities leading the delivery of high-value education and strong student outcomes as executive vice president, Campus Operations and Services. With the addition of Severson to the team, the company has focused under a single leader its work to accelerate the growth of it student population and support new market entries – including our smaller-format Bloomfield, New Jersey campus, which is set to open this fall.
Severson will lead the company's campus, military and high school Admissions teams, who are charged with helping potential students understand the attractive opportunities available to technicians in the transportation industry and the benefits of a UTI education.

Severson spent more than 20 years with Pearson, the market leader in developing tools, content, technology products and services for the education industry, most recently as executive vice president, Higher Education Sales. In that role, he directed a sales force of more than 800 representatives, expanded Pearson's presence in key markets, and drove meaningful increases in revenue and market share. He has held a number of other senior leadership roles with Pearson and, prior to that, led sales teams with educational book publisher, Prentice Hall.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota.
